What is a Google Business Listing?

A Google Business Listing, also known as a Google Business Profile, allows your business to appear in Google Search and Google Maps, making it easier for customers to find you online.

First and foremost, it's FREE to set up a listing so take full advantage of it. Secondly and more importantly it will increase your visibility by showing your business in local searches and on google maps when potential new students search online. They'll find a nicely formatted online listing with your business name, information, contact details and opening hours and you can liven up your listing by adding your company logo and some images! You can also engage with your customers on google by sharing updates, responding to reviews and lots more. It's also a good idea to get your listing verified so that potential new students trust that the information online is real and trustworthy.

1️⃣ You'll need a Google Account

You don’t need a Google email address (e.g., Gmail), but you do need a Google Account to create and manage your listing. You can create a Google Account using your existing email address. Click this link to register.

2️⃣ Add your business

  • Ensure you are logged into your Google Account then click 'Manage Now' or "Add your business"

  • Enter your business name, select an appropriate category e.g. Dance School, add your address and contact details

3️⃣ Verify your business listing

  • Google will require verification to confirm your ownership. Verification methods include: Postcard (sent to your address with a code), Phone (via call or text) or

    Email (if applicable)

  • Follow the instructions to complete the verification process.

4️⃣ Enhance your listing

  • Add key details like business hours, photos, a description of your services etc and use high-quality images and keywords to improve visibility.

5️⃣ Keep Your Profile Updated

  • Regularly update your hours, respond to reviews, and post updates or offers.
