To link siblings, add the same parent to each child's Parents field. The parent's contact details then show on every linked child, so there's only one set of details to keep up to date.
For: team members with Full, Finance or Staff access.
Good to know
Membermeister uses your account's own configured terminology, so you may see Guardians instead of Parents, or Members instead of Students.
Before creating a parent, check they aren't already in membermeister. Start typing their name in the Parents field first. Creating the same parent twice is the most common reason siblings don't link up.
Add a parent to the first child
Open the child's profile and click Edit.
Next to the Parents field, click Create parent.
In the Add a parent window, enter their First name and Last name, plus any contact details (Email, Mobile, Phone).
Click Create parent. The new parent is added to the Parents field.
Click Update to save.
Link a sibling to the same parent
Open the sibling's profile and click Edit.
In the Parents field, start typing the parent's name.
Select the parent from the list. Don't click Create parent, as that makes a second, separate parent.
Click Update to save.
Repeat for any other brothers or sisters.
Check the siblings are linked
On a child's profile, click the parent's name to open the parent's profile. The Student(s) row lists every child linked to that parent. If a child is missing, they're linked to a different parent record.
What to do if siblings aren't linked
This often means there are two parent records with the same name, and each child is linked to a different one. To fix it:
Open the profile of the child who isn't showing under the parent, and click Edit.
In the Parents field, start typing the parent's name. If the same name appears twice in the list, you have two parent records. Their icons may be different colours.
Select the parent record that the other siblings are linked to.
Click the X next to the old parent record to remove it from this child.
Click Update, then check the parent's profile again.
Tidy up the duplicate parent
Once the children are linked to one parent, archive the duplicate so it doesn't get picked by mistake:
Type the parent's name in the Search box at the top of the page. You'll see both parent records.
Open the one with no students listed.
Click More, then Archive followed by the parent's name, and confirm with Archive parent. Archiving hides the parent throughout membermeister but keeps their records, such as paid invoices, on file.
