A Direct Debit mandate belongs to one person, either the student or their parent. If it is on the wrong person, contact support and we will move it for you, so the customer doesn't need to set up a new one.
For: account owners and team members with Full or Finance access.
Good to know
A Direct Debit mandate is the customer's permission for you to collect payments from their bank account.
Membermeister uses your account's own configured terminology, so you may see different words for Student and Parent.
Who the mandate belongs to
The mandate is set up by whoever pays the invoice. An invoice is collected from the person it is issued to, so:
For a single student, the mandate normally belongs to the student.
For students linked to a parent with one combined family invoice, it belongs to the parent.
If a family's set-up changes, the mandate can end up on the wrong person.
Check where the mandate is
Open the student's profile.
Check for a green Direct Debit icon, this indicates an active mandate
Move a mandate to a different person
You can't currently move a mandate yourself. Cancelling it and requesting a new one works, but the customer has to complete the Direct Debit set-up again and wait for it to become active, which can take several days.
To avoid this, email [email protected] with the names of the current and new mandate holder. We will move the mandate for you.
