You can request that your customers set up a Direct Debit mandate without having to pay an initial invoice. You may want to do this if you plan to take automatic payments and prefer that have everyone's Direct Debit mandate in place ahead of issuing an invoice.

Find and select the student that you'd like to request the mandate from.

Under the more button on their profile page, click the 'Request Direct Debit' option as shown in the image below.

Select the 'Send now' button as shown in the image below.

Your customer will receive an email requesting them to setup a Direct Debit mandate.
