This help article explains how to add a new team member to your membermeister account even if they're registered with another school/club.

Many of our customer's have teachers & staff members who work at more than one dance school or club so they will be logging in and out of multiple membermeister accounts.

We always advise that separate email accounts are used for the different businesses, otherwise all membermeister notifications will go to one email address and then they would have to distinguish which email/notification/student belongs to which business and it can get confusing.

For this reason, membermeister will flag up if the 'email is already in use'.

Ideally, when adding a new team member who is already using membermeister for another business ask them for a spare/second email address that is different.

Here's an example:

Isabelle works at A1 Dance, is an admin on their membermeister account and uses her email address [email protected] to log in and receive notifications.

Isabelle then starts working for B1 Dance, they ask for her email address and try to add her as a team member to their membermeister account but it won't work as the email address is already registered.

However, in certain situations (if you really need to/are happy for them to use the same email address) a workaround is possible:

  • You'll need to modify their email address slightly by adding an 'alias'

    If the email accounts is [email protected] then you need to add +1 before the @ symbol in the email address like this: [email protected]

  • The alias doesn't have to be +1, it could be the name of the danceschool if that makes it easier to remember, like this: [email protected] for example.

If your team member is experiencing problems switching between their accounts and getting 'incorrect password' errors please ask them to follow the steps in this help article.

Please note: This workaround is not possible with all email providers. We know it works with Hotmail and Gmail but if you use a different email service, please ensure that it supports this functionality before attempting the workaround. You can test this easily by sending an email to yourself, using your intended alias address. If you receive the email sent to the alias, then it works! If it doesn't we would suggest create an additional free email address.
